Pench Tiger Reserve has a great ecological significance as it represents the floral and faunal wealth of Satpura-Maikal hill range.

The Reserve is rich in natural features like Nagdeo Pahadi, Ambakhori Waterfall (Seasonal), Totaladoh Dam, Maghdoot Jalashaya (Pond), Out Fall (Gawali Ghat) etc.

Pench National park, nestling in the lower southern reaches of the satpuda hills is named after Pench river, meandering through the park from north to south. It is located on the southern boundary of Madhya Pradesh, bordering Maharashtra, in the districts of Seoni and Chhindwara.Pench National Park, comprising of 758 SQ Kms, out of which a core area of 299 sq km of Indira Priyadarshini Pench National Park and the Mowgli Pench Sanctuary and remaining 464 sq km of pench national park is the buffer area.

The tigers belonging to the Wildlife in Pench are seen frequently along the Pench River as they get a concentration of the prey there. Leopards also are seen frequently in this part. Other animals like Jungle Cats, Leopard Cats, small Indian Civets and palm Civets are found in the Pench National Park.

The Pench National Park is open to the visitors from 1st October to 30th June each year and remains closed during the rainy season (July- Sept.). Visiting hours are from 6 am to 11 am, and from 3 pm to 6 pm. Light vehicles and 15-seater buses are allowed.
